I am delighted to greet you on behalf of the Burr Ridge Seventh-day Adventist Church. Burr Ridge is a growing congregation located in the suburb of Darien, a 40 minute drive from downtown Chicago. More than anything else, we seek to be a group of people that embodies the compassionate love of Jesus Christ. We are not perfect by any stretch of imagination, but we are constantly amazed how God’s power to heal wounds, restore relationships, renew broken marriages, and change human lives is manifested in this broken world. We like to call that power grace, which, as our vision statement puts it succinctly, is at the center of our self-understanding. Jesus said: “I have come to give you life, life to the fullest” (Gospel of John 10:10). We think that that is what Christianity is all about, that only in giving our lives to God do we find our true selves and the meaning of human existence in general.
We often say that our greatest dream is to live and work in such a way that people cannot explain us if there is no God; that people in looking at our congregation will be convinced that our God is a living God and that he listens to the prayers of his people.
Above all else, Burr Ridge is a safe place to explore life in relation to God. We don’t believe in force, refuse to demonize doubt, and understand that people need a safe space to investigate Christianity and spiritual life in general.
We would love you to drop by sometime and pay us a visit. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to send us a note if you have any questions.
